Cam Lever
I need help with fuel pump and/or sending unit on a 1987 Toyota truck?
Recently put in a new sending unit in a 1987 Toyota truck, 22R 4×4. The original had 2 nozzles I am assuming for input and output, the new 1 the dealer sold me, had 3 and he said to block off the 3rd, but now I am not getting enough fuel for it to run. I took of the mechanical fuel pump and when I push on the cam lever it blows out air so I am assuming it is working correctly. Any help from someone that is good with Toyota trucks or a good mechanic would be appreciated!
Try adding a little gas directly to the carburetor and try starting it. The motor should barely run like crap for a few seconds, but keep doing this until eventually the motor starts running on its own. This technique helps to prime the fuel system on those older vehicles with mechanical fuel pumps.
