FSX? Lights on a 747?
Hey, I know this is a stupid question, but what lights go I use during taxi, take off and crusing? in a 747?
I know that landing lights is one while under 10,000 feet but what about the rest?
Rotating beacon? Strobe? Navigation? etc.
Oh yea this is in fsx btw.
Thanks in advance
Johnny
Hello Johnny.
Landing lights should be turned on prior to departure and should be turned off above 10,000ft. Obviously they should be turned back on when descending through 10,000ft and turned off after turning off the runway after landing.
Taxi lights are turned on during taxi clearly.
Navigation lights should be turned on when the aircraft has power from an external ground source or the auxiliary power unit. If the aircraft is just running on battery power, the navigation lights should remain off.
Beacon lights are the flashing red lights which are turned on once the engines are started. On a Boeing 747 in particular, two outboard engines (1 and 4) are turned on before pushback and the inboard engines (2 and 3) are turned on during pushback or taxi. Engine start sequence varies from company to company, but usually begins with 4, 1, 2 and then 3 (or 4, 1, 3 and then 2).
Strobe lights are flashing white lights which are usually turned on before take-off.
Beacon and strobe lights are known as anti-collision lights collectively. Position lights include nav lights, wing lights and logo lights.
