Angle Flow

when refueling my car, why does diesel spit out and stop the pump sometimes but not always? How can I stop it?
My car drives me crazy – I fill up at a service station and sometimes you can blast fuel into it and it takes it no problem. Other times it just spits it back up the inlet and stops the pump. Then you have to stand there (in the cold usually) and delicately dribble fuel in slowly which takes ages to fill the tank. Why does it do this sometimes and not all the time, and how can I get around it? I’ve tried every combination of angles, flow rates etc. and it makes no difference. If it’s in a “spitting mood” it takes half an hour to fill the tank!
try filling when the gauge gets down to half and see how it goes the cause is the air in the tank has to get out as you put fuel in thats all and some pumps go faster than others
