Universal Hvac
Anyone know know what the requirements are for purchasing R-22? I have a Universal Hvac card.?
The card I have is Dept. of Defense EPA certification Program. CFC/HCFC refrigerant processing certificate verification. It has a certificate number names me as a universal technician as required by 40 CFR part 82, subpart F.
I received training in the military and have repaired a/c & r units on barges and ships, I have always filled out a request form to receive refrigerant, but have never bought any for personal use. Im just hoping that the Military EPA certification will allow me to purchase and legally service units.
Thanks for any in put.

The requirements to purchase R-22 is EPA certification section 608 Core (Type 1).
You say you are HVAC universal? I am not sure what this means, but if it was the EPA section 608 you are all set to buy R-22.
In most cases you will want to buy it wholesale and a supply house will not generally sell it to somebody who is not an employee of a contractor.
Good Luck, hope this helps!
