Propane Converter
Can I run a car with Methane ?
With the fuel prices in the roof, I was plannig to install a propane converter for my vehicle. Later on I could use Methane, as it is supposed to be cleaner and odorless. But, will get the same performance and cost efficiency ?
Using propane requires on conversion, and methane or natural gas another, they are not interchangeable.
As far as efficiency, no, they are not as efficient as gasoline, and when you get done with paying the road tax on either, especially propane, I doubt if you will see any savings, given the high cost of conversion and propane itself.
True, propane is much cleaner and fewer oil changes are necessary, but then the lack of service stations to refill could present a problem if traveling.
Another thing to consider, of which I am not sure, if your vehicle is fuel injected, can it even be converted?
